County Office Holiday Closures

Williamson County offices will be closed on Thursday, December 24, Friday, December 25, and the following week on Thursday, December 31, and Friday, January 1, due to the holidays. The public is encouraged to visit the County website www.wilco.org for updated information on each department and their hours of operation. It is also highly recommended that residents consider utilizing the online services that are being offered in each department to help reduce in-person contact and possible exposure to COVID-19. There will be no Commissioners Court meeting on Tuesday, December 29, or Tuesday, January 5. However, a Special Session of the Williamson County Commissioners Court will be held on January 1, 2021, following the Elected Official Induction Ceremony in the Commissioners Courtroom on the second floor of the historic courthouse, located at 710 S. Main Street, in Georgetown.

WilCo Elected Officials Induction Ceremony January 1

The ceremony takes place on Friday, January 1, 2021, starting at 11 a.m. The ceremonies will be held outside of the Williamson County Historic Courthouse, 710 S. Main Street, Georgetown, Texas, on the Main Street side for those who wish to watch in person. In case of inclement weather, private ceremonies with just the elected officials will be conducted inside the courthouse with social distancing protocols in place. The public can watch the ceremony live on Williamson County’s Facebook account @wilcogov.

Williamson County Contracts with Family Hospital Systems for First Responder Vaccines

The Williamson County Commissioners Court has signed an agreement with Family Hospital Systems, LLC to provide COVID-19 vaccination services to first responders in Williamson County.  In accordance with Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), first responders are in the first tier of those receiving the vaccine. Williamson County and Family Hospital Systems staff are confident that preparations now will ensure a smooth process to disburse the vaccine once it becomes available.  Williamson County and Family Hospital Systems are prepared to follow all federal and state guidelines involved in distributing the vaccine.

Beginning in January 2021, the Williamson County district and county courts at law will resume limited in-person proceedings, such as jury trials, in a safe manner. Significant safety protocols are in place to create the safest environment possible for these in-person proceedings, with continuous consultation with the Local Public Health Authority. Williamson County Issues Burn Ban for 90 Days

On December 15, 2020, the Williamson County Commissioners Court approved the implementation of an Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning in the unincorporated areas of Williamson County commencing at 5:00 p.m. on December 15, 2020, and continuing for a period not to exceed 90 days. The order authorizes County Judge Bill Gravell to lift the ban if conditions improve during the effective period of the burn ban. A copy of the order can be found here.
