The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) in coordination with Texas State University Round Rock will be hosting free COVID-19 testing on Mondays through Thursdays and the second Saturday each month starting February 1 to April 30, 2021. Testing will be conducted at Texas State University Round Rock, 1555 University Boulevard, Round Rock. It will begin at 10 a.m., and it will close by 6:00 p.m. or until supplies last.  This is a drive-up site that will not require an appointment prior to being tested; however, pre-registration is encouraged by visiting texas.spartancovidtesting.com. Participants do not need symptoms to be tested, and no insurance is required. Williamson County, which falls under Trauma Service Area (TSA) Region O, received notification on January 30, 2021, from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) that it no longer meets the definition of a high hospitalization area. This allows certain businesses to operate at the higher capacity levels allowable under Governor Abbott’s Executive Order GA-32 effective immediately. In addition, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission approved County Judge Bill Gravell's request to allow bars to reopen at 50 percent capacity for indoor seating. Williamson County continues to make strides to fulfill the demand for COVID-19 vaccines. While there is a limited supply of doses, there also is a dire need to help people with appointments to fill out their online registration paperwork to be ready for their appointment. To streamline the vaccine registration process and reduce any barriers that could prevent a person from properly registering to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, the County has created a Vaccine Registration Technical Assistance sites (VRTA) at the Sun City Ballroom, 2 Texas Drive in Georgetown. The County aims to expand this program and launch more sites in the coming days. At a VRTA location, which will be predominantly run by trained volunteers, a resident can get help filling out their registration paperwork once they have received a vaccination appointment from Family Hospital Systems (FHS). Williamson County is activating its COVID-19 vaccination plan this week as it is scheduled to receive 6,000 doses of the COVID-19 Moderna vaccine through its partner Family Hospital Systems (FHS). The County’s vaccination plan targets providing the vaccine to residents who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine under the Texas Department of State Health Services’ Phase 1B. The Commissioners Court approved an agreement with FHS during today’s Commissioners Court meeting to administer the COVID-19 per the County’s plan. Family Hospital Systems will begin vaccinating eligible Texans at the Sun City Ballroom, located at 2 Texas Drive in Georgetown, as soon as they receive the vaccine which is expected Wednesday. Vaccinations will be provided through the weekend while supplies last. An appointment will be required before receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. January 12, 2021, the Williamson County Commissioners Court heard a presentation on a County coordinated COVID-19 vaccination plan which was submitted to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) for approval. DSHS is the entity that receives and distributes the COVID-19 vaccines in Texas. Williamson County’s plan would go into effect if the state allocates vaccines to the County for this plan.
