Drive-thru vaccination sites are the most efficient way to vaccinate the greatest number of people in a day; however, Williamson County and its partners also are working on reaching smaller groups that fall in the state’s priority list of Phase 1a and 1b. In order to help the most vulnerable in the community receive the vaccine, this week the County began using special teams to vaccinate people who have a difficult time going to a drive-thru location. Residents in the state’s Phase 1a and 1b groups that want to receive the vaccine can register on the County’s centralized waitlist at  www.wilco.org/coronavirus. 

Family Hospital Systems will hold a 24-hour vaccination hub to begin on Saturday, March 6 at 8 a.m., and end on Sunday, March 7 at 8 a.m. at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex in Austin.  This one-of-a-kind event is designed to increase vaccination awareness while encouraging residents to kick COVID-19 out of Williamson County.  Vax-A-Thon will only be open to eligible people in Categories 1A and 1B who register with FHS to receive the vaccine.  Participants will be taken from the Williamson County waitlist and will receive an email invitation to register for their vaccine appointment.  The public is advised that no vaccines will be administered to those without an appointment. Williamson County is one of 77 Texas counties that fall under the federal Texas Severe Winter Storms disaster declaration. County Judge Bill Gravell has terminated our local disaster declaration as we are now covered under the federal declaration. Residents who sustained damage from snow and ice during the winter storms may apply for federal assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). If you have insurance, contact your insurance company first, and then FEMA. Your insurance claim information is needed to determine eligibility for federal assistance. Apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov or call 800-621-3362 or TTY 800-462-7585. The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance has been extended to May 20. When Williamson County’s Office of Emergency Management learned that no water would be available again today for its communities that have been out of water for days or under a boil water notice, it formed its own water brigade to distribute water. In total, approximately 5,000 gallons of water were distributed. Water distribution sites will be open again on Sunday, February 21. To check locations and schedules, go to the website.
