Location FM 3349 at US 79
Description   The project will construct dual bridges on FM 3349 over US 79 and Union Pacific Railroad.
Status The FM 3349 at US 79 project intends to provide a safe grade-separated railroad crossing and was part of the Southeast Loop project. The design engineer is HDR. The project received funding from the voter-approved 2019 Road Bond. We are seeking federal and state funds to leverage with our local funds to the greatest extent possible. Construction is expected to begin in early 2022 on the interim project with completion in summer 2025. The ultimate project may be built in phases over several decades, as the county grows and as funding becomes available. For more information on the Southeast Loop, please visit our webpage

Draft Environmental Assessment

Williamson County, in coordination with the Texas Department of Transportation, is proposing to reconstruct and improve the interchange of FM 3349/CR 101 and US 79, from CR 404 to CR 395 in Williamson County, Texas. This notice advises the public that a draft environmental assessment (EA) is available for public review. The public comment period for the EA is closed.

The proposed project includes widening the existing undivided two‐lane FM 3349 and CR 101 roadways into a four‐lane divided roadway, constructing an elevated crossing over US 79 and the Union Pacific Railroad, and constructing a local access road “jug handle” to provide connectivity between US 79 and FM 3349/CR 101.

*Please note, the project will be built in phases. The first phase of this project is shown in the interim schematic above. As the County grows and as funding becomes available, the ultimate interchange would be built. This would be built in phases over several decades.
