FM 3349 at US 79
Location FM 3349 at US 79
Description   The project includes widening the existing undivided two-lane FM 3349 and CR 101 roadways into a four-lane divided roadway with bridges over US 79 and the Union Pacific Railroad. The project will also construct a new interchange between US 79 and FM 3349/CR 101.

The project is part of the county's Long-Range Transportation Plan and is being funded through a combination of the Williamson County voter-approved 2019 Road Bonds and the TXDOT Austin District.

The design engineers were HDR and BGE. Schematic plans and a final environmental assessment (EA) are available at the links below.
Status Construction began in fall 2022 on the interim project, which is scheduled to be open to traffic in summer 2025. James Construction is the contractor. The ultimate project may be built in phases over several decades, as the county grows, and funding becomes available. For more information on the Southeast Loop, please visit our webpage.
Lane Closure: Contractor James Construction will be conducting daytime right lane closure on US 79 westbound. The operation will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 1. This operation is to repair crash cushion attenuator on US 79 westbound right shoulder which was damaged by public traffic. Minimal delays are expected.
