Rick ZuaZua serves as Captain of the Fire Marshal Special Operations Division of Williamson County. Mr. ZuaZua began his fire service career with The City of Seguin Fire Department in 2006, and later joined the City of Shavano Park Fire Department in 2011. During his time in the Shavano Park Fire Department Mr. ZuaZua served as a member of the Bexar County Regional HazMat team through 2015. In 2015 he was hired by the City of Georgetown Fire Department. During his time in Georgetown Mr. ZuaZua served in multiple capacities including Firefighter/Paramedic, HazMat Technician, EMS Field Training Officer, Quality Management & Quality Improvement committee member, and was promoted to a Fire Life and Safety Specialist in the Fire Marshal’s Office in 2020.
Mr. ZuaZua assisted The Red Cross with EMS triage/care during Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and in 2017 he was deployed to Aransas Pass assigned with the TIFMAS Team to assist with Hurricane Harvey. During his fire service career Mr. ZuaZua has received 5 Phoenix awards for providing lifesaving care to patients in cardiac arrest, which resulted in out of hospital survival, and in November 2020 Mr. ZuaZua was awarded the “Extra Mile Change Makers” by the Mayor of Georgetown for helping with the COVID Response Task Force Team.
Mr. ZuaZua holds a Master Structural Firefighter, Master Fire Inspector, Master Fire Investigator, Plans Examiner, Fire Officer II, Instructor I, Driver Operator, Intermediate Wild Land Firefighter, Incident Safety Officer, Hazardous Materials Incident Commander and Hazardous Materials Technician certifications from The Texas Commission on Fire Protection. Mr. ZuaZua is Pro Board certified in Confined Space Technical Rescue I & II and is recognized as a Swift Water Technician, and Rope Rescue Technician VI by Rescue 3 International. Mr. ZuaZua also holds a WMD Radiological/Nuclear Haz-Mat Technician certification and is certified as a Paramedic and EMS Instructor with the Texas Department of Health Services.
