Become A Volunteer

Are you looking to make a difference? Join our team! The Williamson County Parks Department offers a variety of volunteer and Park Host opportunities at most of our County parks. Being a volunteer can be one of the most rewarding things you do for yourself and the citizens of Williamson County, and what a better place to do it……outside and in a park.

Opportunities are abundant and can vary from one-time service type projects to larger more long-term endeavors.  Here’s a sampling of just a few things that greatly benefit the parks and the many visitors that enjoy them:

  • Visitor services and administrative support 
  • Landscaping, tree and other vegetation control and maintenance
  • Erosion control projects
  • Facility cleaning & litter collection
  • Guided hikes
  • Light carpentry projects
  • Trail maintenance

Park Host
 

Do you have an RV? Do you like to camp? If so, we also have park host opportunities at three of our parks (Berry Springs Park & Preserve, Expo Center, and River Ranch County Park).

We will provide a full hookup RV site at no cost in exchange for 20-30 volunteer hours per week. We prefer at least a one-month commitment, but can accommodate up to a 3-month hosting opportunity if the schedule allows. Hosting extensions are evaluated and considered on a case-by-case basis.

The duties of a Park Host and work schedule will vary to meet the business needs of the park, but we are also interested in your experience being a positive one, so we try to maintain flexibility when we can.

Friends Groups

Two of our parks, Berry Springs Park & Preserve and River Ranch County Park also have organized and active support groups. These nonprofit organizations, called “friends groups,” help with daily programs, special events, maintenance activities, fundraising and public education. These groups serve as important links to the local communities and park user groups, as well.

Their partnerships allow us use the skills, contacts and resources of private citizens and businesses to make our parks better and to provide services that might not be available otherwise.
