Construction Permits

The Williamson County Fire Marshal is the authority having jurisdiction for the unincorporated areas of Williamson County. It is the responsibility of the Williamson County Fire Marshal to review the plans for commercial construction projects, fire alarm and fire protections systems in new facilities in Williamson County. In addition to submitting plans to the Fire Marshal's Office, visit the Williamson County Engineering Department page for regulations and permit applications.

As of November 17, 2020 unincorporated Williamson County will utilize the 2018 International Fire Code, related Local Amendments and the Williamson County Fire Code (PDF attached). The Williamson County Fire Marshal’s office is proposing the adoption of the 2018 International Fire Code, with related local amendments and the Williamson County Fire Code. This code applies to unincorporated Williamson County only. The purpose of this code is to provide minimum requirements, with due regard to function, for the design and construction or substantial improvement of public buildings, commercial establishments, and multi-family residential dwellings consisting of four or more units, to reduce the risk to life and property from fire. The Williamson County Fire Marshal's office is tasked with the administration of the adopted IFC and works closely with the Williamson County Engineering department on commercial construction projects in the unincorporated portions of Williamson County. Our process includes:

  • A comprehensive non-structural architectural plan review
  • A detailed review of fire protection plans
  • Permitting the development as well as fire protection systems
  • A diligent and detailed inspection program, performed by the Williamson County Fire Marshal's office
