Williamson County Prohibiting Outdoor Burning

Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell has issued an Order Declaring a Local State of Disaster for Williamson County effective 5 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022. The Order prohibits outdoor burning in all of the unincorporated areas of Williamson County and smoking in and/or on Williamson County parks, preserves and trails due to dry vegetation, wind and imminent threat of severe damage. The order is in effect for a period not to exceed seven days and can be lifted by the County Judge if conditions improve. Williamson County Conservation Foundation Hosts Symposium

The Williamson County Conservation Foundation and Southwestern University are hosting the eighth annual Texas Conservation Symposium on January 13, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and January 14, from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. This year’s event will be a hybrid symposium with people attending in-person at the Williamson County Georgetown Annex, 100 Wilco Way, Georgetown, and by remote video. The program scope will include species of direct concern to central Texas and related developments affecting conservation in Texas, especially local concerns. Commissioner Cynthia Long Re-Elected CAMPO Chair

The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) Policy Board unanimously re-elected Williamson County Precinct 2 Commissioner Cynthia Long as its 2022-2023 Chair.  Commissioner Long is the first representative from Williamson County and the first woman to serve as Chair of the six-county CAMPO Board.

All Williamson County Tax Office lobbies will be closed to the public on Wednesday, Jan. 12, due to a staffing shortage. Office lobbies will reopen at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13.
