Fireworks Safety Map and Safety Tips from Williamson County

Some people may like to ring in the New Year with the bang of fireworks, but most jurisdictions have city ordinances prohibiting the use of fireworks within or near the city limits.  If you are unsure of the ordinances, it is always safer to check with the city or local fire department prior to the purchase or discharge of fireworks. In addition, Williamson County provides a map that shows the areas where fireworks are permitted and prohibited by ordinance in the county. Go to http://www.wilco.org/GIS and click the County Map.

WilCo EMS Recognizes Local Teens for Performing Life-Saving CPR on Grandfather

Williamson County EMS gave lifesaving awards and challenge coins to Riley and Faith Cox for their quick action to save their grandfather’s life. On Nov. 23, their grandfather, former Williamson County Precinct 4 Commissioner Larry Madsen, was at his daughter’s house when he suddenly went into cardiac arrest. Without hesitation, Faith called 911 while Riley, who had learned CPR in school, performed chest compressions until the Round Rock Fire Department and Williamson County EMS paramedics arrived. Early intervention with CPR can save lives, and it can be learned in about 10 minutes! Go to www.wilco.org/ems to find a class offered from Williamson County EMS and be ready in case an emergency happens.
