Commissioner Cynthia Long Re-Elected CAMPO Chair

The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) Policy Board unanimously re-elected Williamson County Precinct 2 Commissioner Cynthia Long as its 2022-2023 Chair.  Commissioner Long is the first representative from Williamson County and the first woman to serve as Chair of the six-county CAMPO Board. 

“I am humbled and honored that my transportation colleagues have elected me to continue leading our organization during this crucial time of continued population growth,” said Commissioner Long. 

CAMPO is the regional transportation planning organization that serves six counties in Central Texas, including Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson counties.  CAMPO coordinates with cities, counties and other transportation planning organizations to improve mobility and ultimately, quality of life.

Williamson County is the third fastest growing county in Texas and sixth fastest growing in the United States with a growth rate of 44% over the past ten years. Williamson County’s population according to the 2020 Census is 609,017. Williamson County is centrally located in Texas just north of Travis County and the State Capitol in Austin. About CAMPO

The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson Counties. MPOs are federally required throughout the country in areas with a population of 50,000 or more and are required to produce a 20+ year transportation plan, called a Regional Transportation Plan (RTP), and a four-year planning document called the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
