Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s plan to safely and strategically reopen the Texas economy in phases, which is detailed in the Texans Helping Texans: The Governor's Report to Open Texas, reached Phase III Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Under this phase, all Texas businesses can operate at a 50% capacity, with some limitations. That includes restaurants, bars, sporting events, water parks, zoos and aquariums, salons offering services of any kind, among other establishments. The Williamson County Commissioners Court will hold a special session on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, online through a virtual meeting platform beginning at 9:00 a.m. The County Commissioners Court previously canceled its regular session that was to be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, due to Memorial Day. Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell felt it was necessary to call this special session following time sensitive matters that arose after Tuesday’s meeting.

Williamson County is preparing to start Phase III of the Forest North Drainage Improvement project located in Precinct 1. Construction is expected to begin late Spring 2020 and be completed before Spring 2022, weather permitting.

Due to the overwhelming interest in COVID-19 testing through Family Emergency Rooms, Williamson County is temporarily taking down the online testing portal from its website until the backlog of testing requests has been scheduled.

On Tuesday, May 19, the Williamson County Commissioners Court terminated the County’s local disaster declaration which went into effect March 14, 2020.  “It is time for Williamson County to stand again and to grow in a way that leads our nation,” said County Judge Bill Gravell. The Commissioners Court also approved the plan for ramping up in-person access to Williamson County offices beginning June 1.
