After the end of the legal process, which resulted in pets being relinquished into the shelter’s care, the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) is placing the last of the 41 dogs and cats it received from a single location last month up for adoption.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) declares Sunday, April 3, is an Ozone Action Day for the Austin metropolitan area, meaning the air quality is unhealthy for sensitive groups. Please limit your driving to before 8 a.m. especially avoiding use of vehicles between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and after 5 p.m. Also, fuel up your cars and trucks early in the morning or at night. Don't idle your vehicle. Carpool or take public transportation.

Williamson County Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning Extended

The Williamson County Commissioners Court has extended an Order Declaring a Local State of Disaster for Williamson County. The Order prohibits outdoor burning in all of the unincorporated areas of Williamson County and smoking in and/or on Williamson County parks, preserves and trails due to dry vegetation, wind and imminent threat of severe damage. The order is in effect until it is canceled by the Commissioners Court or a burn ban order is issued. A burn ban order is on the agenda for Tuesday, April 5.

Williamson County Learn to Fish Event is May 21, 2022

Williamson County is hosting its Annual Learn to Fish Day in the Southwest Williamson County Regional Park, located at 3005 CR 175, Leander, Texas on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 8 a.m. to noon. Children of all ages will be able to spend time learning various fishing tips and techniques from local experts. The Learn to Fish Day event is free and open to the public.
