Commissioners Court Approves an Approximate 7% Increase for Law Enforcement in FY 23 Budget

Tuesday, the Williamson County Commissioners Court approved a 5% increase in pay for all law enforcement officers in the 2022-2023 fiscal year budget, plus an additional 1% to 5% increase for all tenured staff, for an average increase of approximately 7%. County law enforcement officers are employed in the Sheriff’s Office, Constables’ offices, District Attorney’s Office, Corrections and County Attorney’s Office.

County Offices Closed for July 4th Holiday

Williamson County offices will be closed on Monday, July 4, 2022, in observance of the July 4th Independence Day holiday.  In addition, the Commissioners Court will not meet on Tuesday, July 5, and will resume their regular schedule on Tuesday, July 12, at 9:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom on the second floor of the historic courthouse, 710 S. Main Street, in Georgetown. The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS), 1855 S.E. Inner Loop in Georgetown, will be open from noon to 4:00 p.m. and will have a $4 adoption special for adult dogs and cats from July 2 to July 4.

Williamson County Reaffirms AAA Bond Rating

Williamson County has once again affirmed its AAA bond rating, the highest rating possible, with both rating agencies Fitch Ratings and S&P Global Ratings. Securing a bond rating is the first step prior to issuing debt. On May 17, 2022, the Commissioners Court approved issuing $112 million in Unlimited Tax Road Bonds for road projects approved by voters in 2019.

Fireworks Industry Voluntarily Limits the Sale of Two Types of Fireworks Products in Williamson County

Due to the drought conditions and current Burn Ban in effect in Williamson County, County Judge Bill Gravell and the fireworks industry have worked together to limit the sale of two types of fireworks products this July Fourth holiday. Stick rockets and missiles with fins or rudders will not be sold. Most jurisdictions have city ordinances prohibiting the use of fireworks within or near the city limits.
