Williamson County Tax Office Lobbies Closed July 13

All Williamson County Tax Offices will be closed to the public on Wednesday, July 13, to allow staff to process the mailed-in transactions backlog.  All Tax Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 14.

Williamson County Receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

Williamson County is the recipient of the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This is the 12th consecutive year Williamson County has received this award which reflects the commitment of the County and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. Williamson County has earned GFOA’s Triple Crown for receiving all three of the GFOA awards: Excellence in Financial Reporting Award, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award and Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

WCRAS Offers Free Adoptions to Help Make Space

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) is at critical capacity and is offering free adoptions to help make space for the flood of animals that continue to come in after the 4th of July celebrations. Appointments are not required but are recommended to reduce wait times. To see all of the medium-to-large adult dogs and adult cats that qualify for this special, go to wilcopets.org, then send an email to adoption@wilco.org to schedule an appointment for the shortest wait time.

Fire Near Florence Fully Contained, Approximately 600 Acres Burned

The structure fire near the Texas Department of Public Safety training facility off Pecan Branch near Florence is now fully contained. According to the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), the fire spread to approximately 600 acres. Crews had been unable to accurately map the size of the fire until Tuesday, July 5, due to difficult terrain. Firefighters from TIFMAS remain on scene and are conducting mop-up operations. They are expected to be back on site, Wednesday, July 6.
