The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Williamson County were joined by Congressman Pete Sessions and Texas Transportation Commission Chairman J. Bruce Bugg, Jr. to celebrate the start of construction on the FM 3349 at US 79 intersection improvement project. The project includes widening the existing undivided two-lane FM 3349 and CR 101 roadways into a four-lane divided roadway, constructing two bridges over US 79 and the Union Pacific Railroad and constructing a local access road "jug handle" to provide signalized connectivity between US 79 and FM 3349/CR 101.
On Nov. 1, the Williamson County Commissioners Court extended an Order Declaring a Local State of Disaster for Williamson County due to the tornado that touched down in the Jarrell area, as well as high winds and severe thunderstorms that traveled through the county on Oct. 24. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is installing a traffic signal at the heavily traveled intersection of FM 1660 and Chandler Road in Hutto. The signal is part of the Austin District’s non-site specific signal installation program which will install high priority signals across the 14 counties in the district. Currently, the intersection has stop signs on FM 1660, and vehicles traveling on Chandler Road have free movement and do not stop.
