The Commissioners Court meeting for Tuesday, Nov. 29, is canceled. The next meeting is Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. in the historic county courthouse, 710 S. Main Street, on the second floor.

Julie Kiley has been appointed to serve as the Williamson County auditor following the retirement of County Auditor Jerri Jones in December. Under Texas law, the county auditor is appointed by the Williamson County district judges.

Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell has been appointed to the National Association of Counties (NACo) Housing Task Force, comprised of over 30 county leaders from across the United States. The group will identify county-led solutions and innovations for addressing America’s housing affordability and stability crisis.

Celebrate the holiday season at the annual Lighting of the Square event on the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 25. The event will be held on the east steps of the historic Williamson County Courthouse, 710 S. Main St. The festivities include entertainment from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. After the lighting, Williamson County Brown Santa will offer the option for visitors to take photos with Santa inside the courthouse from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for a donation of an unwrapped toy or a monetary donation. Enter the courthouse on the south side on Eighth Street.

Williamson County offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 25, for the Thanksgiving holiday.  County offices will resume operations on Monday, Nov. 28, 2022.  The Commissioners Court meeting that is usually held on Tuesdays will not be held on Nov. 29. The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) will close on Thanksgiving Day, but will be open to serve the needs of the public on Friday, Nov. 25, during their regular business hours from noon to 6 p.m. The Williamson County Landfill will be closed Thanksgiving Day and reopen regular hours on Friday, Nov. 25, 2022.
