Influenza activity remains high across the state of Texas. The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) urges everyone six months old and older to get vaccinated against the flu. It is particularly important for pregnant women, young children, older adults, and people with chronic health conditions, because people in those groups are at a greater risk of severe complications if they do get the flu. The flu vaccine is available now. Find the closest location here. Other important steps include wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use hand sanitizer; cover your coughs and sneezes; stay home if you’re sick; and have a plan to care for sick family members at home.

County offices will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2018, for Martin Luther King Day. The United Way of Williamson County is encouraging residents to mark the holiday by volunteering for their annual Day of Service. Williamson County offers volunteers the opportunity to participate in park improvement projects at the Southwest Williamson County Regional Park, 3005 CR 175, Leander, and Berry Springs Park and Preserve, 1801 CR 152, Georgetown.
