The Williamson County Conservation Foundation and Southwestern University are hosting the eighth annual Texas Conservation Symposium on January 13, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and January 14, from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. This year’s event will be a hybrid symposium with people attending in-person at the Williamson County Georgetown Annex, 100 Wilco Way, Georgetown, and by remote video. The program scope will include species of direct concern to central Texas and related developments affecting conservation in Texas, especially local concerns. The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved a guaranteed maximum price for several enhancements to the Williamson County Expo Center occurring in 2022. Chasco Constructors was awarded Construction Manager at Risk for the projects for a guaranteed maximum price of $2,009,747. The improvements include widening the arena, adding box seating, making a walkway ADA accessible and repairing the roof.

Jason Brown has been named the new general manager of the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor. Brown has been serving for the past three years as the assistant general manager for the Expo Center, where he gained valuable knowledge and experience in the operation and management of this growing and popular venue. Brown attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a degree in Agricultural Economics.  Before finding his way to Williamson County, he spent several years in land operations in the oil and gas industry.

Williamson County’s contractor Denucci Constructors is beginning work on the Great Oaks Drive Bridge project. For safety, the Brushy Creek Regional Trail near the project area will be closed starting as early as Sunday, Nov. 14, for approximately nine months. To view the closure map, click here.
