Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter joins the ranks of shelters in using facial recognition technology to identify lost dogs and cats. This shelter now offers their community an additional tool to help lost and adoptable dogs and cats find their forever home. Now every dog and cat that enters the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter’s system becomes registered on Finding Rover. Users of Finding Rover can search the shelter and surrounding areas right from their smartphone or computer in efforts to find their missing pet, a neighbor’s missing pet, the family of a found pet or search for adoptable pets. Registration of your pet is FREE and as simple as 1, 2, 3!  Just go to www.FindingRover.com.

Williamson County’s Election Office will be re-issuing approximately 8,000 ballots-by-mail that were distributed missing a candidate’s name in a state-wide election. Under the Presiding Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals race, the ballots should have listed three candidates: a Republican, a Democrat and a Libertarian. Due to an error, the Libertarian candidate, William Bryan Strange, III, was not listed on the ballots. “We regret the mistake we made, and we are working diligently to rectify this situation. We are expediting production of the corrected ballots-by-mail and expect to mail them next week. We ask anyone who received a Williamson County ballot-by-mail to wait and use the corrected ballot they will be receiving,” said Chris Davis, Williamson County Elections Administrator.

The District Clerk's Office has received reports that county residents have been receiving phone calls regarding their failure to appear for jury service, and a warrant has been issued for their arrest. THIS IS A SCAM. Williamson County district and county courts as per a longstanding policy will NEVER call an individual and ask for money, gift cards, money orders, etc. for payment to clear the warrant for failure to appear for jury. Please do not send money to these individuals when requested. Contact your local law enforcement agency.

The Williamson County Commissioners Court adopted budgets and tax rates for next fiscal year. The overall county tax rate adopted was $.459029 per $100 valuation which is a three-quarters of a cent reduction from last year’s total tax rate. The total county budget for FY 2018-2019 funds 47 new full-time employees including 18 Sheriff’s Office employees with eight law enforcement deputies, seven corrections personnel, two school resource officers for Round Rock ISD and a financial manager.  It also funds eight call takers for Emergency Communications, five employees for Road and Bridge, and four employees for the District Attorney’s Office. 

The Commissioners Court set a proposed maximum tax rate of $.466529 which is the current county tax rate. Because the proposed maximum tax rate is above the effective tax rate of $0.446403, two public hearings are scheduled for August 14 and 21, at 10 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom, 710 S.
