The grand reopening for businesses along Williams Drive has been moved to June 1 due to the forecast for rain this Saturday. The event will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 1. The party will be held in the parking lot of Lone Star Circle of Care located at 2425 Williams Drive.The event is a celebration of the businesses affected by the recent evacuations in and around the intersection of Williams Drive and River Bend in Georgetown. The community is invited to attend this free, family-friendly event to support local businesses as they reopen. The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce is coordinating the event, with assistance from the City of Georgetown and Williamson County. The event is sponsored by Atmos Energy. Williamson County’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program will be allocating $1,467,836 in funds next fiscal year. The fiscal year runs from October 2019 to September 2020. Cities, non-profits and other entities can apply for that funding now through May 22, 2019 at 5 p.m. Funds are intended to primarily benefit low- to moderate-income persons in Williamson County. Projects should be located in the unincorporated area of the County and the incorporated cities that have joined the urban County designation. These cities include Cedar Park, Coupland, Georgetown, Granger, Hutto, Jarrell, Leander, Liberty Hill, Taylor, and Weir. Specific instructions on how to submit projects for funding can be found at www.wilco.org/CDBG.

The Justice Of the Peace Office in Precinct 1, 1801 E. Old Settlers Boulevard, in Round Rock will be closed to the public at noon every Wednesday afternoon starting April 10, 2019. The office will reopen Thursdays at 8 a.m. They apologize for any inconvenience this causes their customers. Information on the office is available online at http://www.wilco.org/jp1.

The Citizens Bond Committee held its first meeting on Thursday, March 21, 2019 in the Commissioners Courtroom of the historic courthouse, 710 S. Main Street, Georgetown. The purpose of a Williamson County Citizens Bond Committee is to review and analyze the infrastructure needs of Williamson County to determine if the county should consider a bond election in November 2019. In honor of the grand opening of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter's (WCRAS) new Adoption Center and in preparation of the upcoming kitten season, WCRAS is hosting a Kitten Shower this Saturday, March 16, from noon to 4 p.m.! There will be a bake sale, games, prizes and light snacks. Items suggested for donation to the kitten shower include: Royal Canin Mother and Babycat soft food and kibble, digital kitchen scales, flannel receiving blankets, kitten bottles, unflavored Pedialyte, top loading plastic carriers, free and clear baby wipes, and turkey or chicken Gerber baby food with no additional veggies or spices or bring a present from the kitten registry. In addition, all cats and kittens are free to adopt through the weekend!
