Williamson County Elections Office will be closed Monday, August 1, through Wednesday, August 3, for staff training.

The San Gabriel Wildfire is now 100% contained. A total of 445 acres have been burned. The Texas A&M Forest Service says the decrease in acres burned is due to better GPS mapping since Saturday when crews originally said 500 acres had burned. No homes were burned and there were no injuries. 

Due to recent positive COVID-19 test results within staff and subsequent exposure to clerks, the lobby of Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 in Taylor will be closed to the public through Wednesday, July 27, to protect the health and safety of the community. We will monitor for any developments over the weekend and will update the public if it becomes necessary to keep the lobby closed to the public past this Friday.

The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved a resolution recognizing the week of July 17 through July 23, 2022, as Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision (PPPS) Week recognizing the essential responsibilities performed by pretrial, probation, parole, and community supervision professionals.

The Williamson County Conservation Foundation is offering a “Leave No Trace for Williamson County Preserves” training for people who want to access County preserve areas.  The class will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Southwest Williamson County Regional Park, 3005 CR 175, Leander, at the Boulder Pavilion near the Quarry Splash Pad. The class is free to attend, but space is limited and advance registration is required at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/leave-no-trace-williamson-county-conservation-foundation-registration-369217979917 . Participants must first complete an online awareness activity prior to participating in the in-person class.
