City of Georgetown Hosts Public Meeting on Berry Creek Wastewater Interceptor Project Oct. 4

The City of Georgetown will hold a stakeholder meeting on Oct. 4 to provide information on the Berry Creek Wastewater Interceptor project. The meeting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room at the Parks and Recreation Administration Building, 1101 N. College St. in Georgetown. Information about the potential alignment of the 4.4-mile wastewater line project will be provided. The interceptor follows Berry Creek from the Berry Creek subdivision to the Pecan Branch Wastewater Treatment Plant, located on Farm to Market 971 near Weir. Some of the potential alignments go through Williamson County's Berry Springs Park and Preserve. Construction on the wastewater line is expected to begin next year.

The District Clerk's Office has received reports that county residents have been receiving phone calls regarding their failure to appear for jury service, and a warrant has been issued for their arrest. THIS IS A SCAM. Williamson County district and county courts as per a longstanding policy will NEVER call an individual and ask for money, gift cards, money orders, etc. for payment to clear the warrant for failure to appear for jury. Please do not send money to these individuals when requested. Contact your local law enforcement agency.

Alan's Hope "Guitars for Hope" 5k held Sept. 30

Alan’s Hope is hosting its second annual 5K walk/run “Guitars for HOPE” in recognition of National Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month on Sunday, September 30, at 8:30 a.m. at Twin Lakes Park, 204 E. Little Elm Trail, Cedar Park, Texas. All interested members of the public are invited to attend. The 5K run/walk will feature live music along the route followed by health and wellness information and activities until noon. Register online or the morning of the event starting at 7:30 a.m. The event hopes to raise awareness of the issue of suicide in our community and highlight the resources available to help improve mental and physical health to prevent suicides from occurring.

Commissioners Court approves FY 2018-2019 Budget and Sets Tax Rate

The Williamson County Commissioners Court adopted budgets and tax rates for next fiscal year. The overall county tax rate adopted was $.459029 per $100 valuation which is a three-quarters of a cent reduction from last year’s total tax rate. The total county budget for FY 2018-2019 funds 47 new full-time employees including 18 Sheriff’s Office employees with eight law enforcement deputies, seven corrections personnel, two school resource officers for Round Rock ISD and a financial manager.  It also funds eight call takers for Emergency Communications, five employees for Road and Bridge, and four employees for the District Attorney’s Office.
