Justice of the Peace Offices Closed for Training

Two Williamson County Justice of the Peace offices will be closed for training next week:

The Office of Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, 350 Discovery Boulevard in Cedar Park, will be closed for court personnel training Tuesday, July 9, through Friday, July 12. All Civil and Criminal due dates and appearance dates will be extended until Tuesday, July 16. Online credit card payments are accepted on certain cases. To pay on-line, go to www.wilco.org/payJP2. When making a payment online, be sure to maintain your receipt at all times to provide proof of payment.

The office of Justice of the Peace Precinct 4, 211 W. 6th Street in Taylor, will be closed for court personnel training on Thursday, July 11, and Friday, July 12, 2019. Normal business hours will resume on Monday, July 15, 2019. The public may mail any correspondence or use the drop box located at the northeast corner facing Sixth Street. Citation due dates during this time will be extended to 5 p.m., July 15, 2019.

Williamson County Allocates $1.46 Million in CDBG Funds; Public Comment Open Until July 31

The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved a recommended allocation of $1,467,836 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding in the county’s 2019 Annual Action Plan. Funds are intended to primarily benefit low- to moderate-income persons in Williamson County. The public now is invited to review and comment on the county’s 2019-2023 Consolidated Plan, the 2019 Annual Action Plan and the updated Citizen Participation Plan from July 1 to July 31, 2019.  Plans are available to review on the website at http://www.wilco.org/cdbg  and at the city halls for the cities of Cedar Park, Coupland, Georgetown, Granger, Hutto, Jarrell, Leander, Liberty Hill, Taylor and Weir. Written comments must be received by July 31, 2019. In addition, a public hearing regarding the Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plan will be held by the Williamson County CDBG office on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Courthouse located at 710 Main Street, Georgetown, TX 78626. Please use the 8th Street entrance.

With the Fourth of July right around the corner, many people are asking where consumer fireworks can legally be used in Williamson County. Most jurisdictions have city ordinances prohibiting the use of fireworks within or near the city limits. If you are unsure of the ordinances, it is always safer to check with the city or local fire department prior to the purchase or discharge of fireworks. County Offices Closed for July 4th Holiday

Williamson County offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of the July 4th Independence Day holiday.  In addition, the Commissioners Court will not meet on Tuesday, July 2, and will resume their regular schedule on Tuesday, July 9, at 9:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom on the second floor of the historic courthouse, 710 S. Main Street, in Georgetown. The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS), 1855 S.E. Inner Loop in Georgetown, will be open from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. and will have a $4 adoption special for adult dogs and cats from June 29 to July 7. Justice of the Peace offices in Precinct 1 and 4 will open with limited staff on July 5. Open House for Southeast Loop Study June 24

Williamson County is conducting a study to consider connections for east/west travel between SH 130 and FM 3349 and north/south travel to US 79 called the Southeast Loop Study. An open house on the Southeast Loop Study was held on Monday, June 24, 2019. The purpose of this meeting was to share a preferred route concept and gather public feedback. Materials from the meeting are available online at www.wilco.org/seloop.Comments are welcome at any time, but must be shared at the meeting or sent via email/mail by July 9, 2019 to be included in the meeting report.
