The Williamson County Public Information Office was a recipient of the National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) Awards of Excellence for the Williamson County Expo Center Grand Opening Brochure. The NACIO Awards of Excellence recognizes and awards outstanding public relations and public information work being done by counties throughout the nation. The multi-page booklet received the Superior Award which indicated exceptional work among peers.

This budget season has been the most difficult item that I have experienced as your County Commissioner. Many of the old timers around here say it’s been the most contentious for them, too. However, there is some good news!

We passed a tax rate that is lower than your current rate, from $0.476529 to $0.466529. I had two main goals going into this budget season: 1. Our elected officials receive a good salary already, and I felt that we didn’t need a salary increase, and 2. With a rapidly growing population putting stress on county services, I believed that our county departments needed more people to serve you.

The Williamson County Commissioners Court adopted their General Fund budget for FY 2017-2018 of $191,598,091, a 6.5 percent increase over last year’s adopted budget of $179,871,807. The Commissioners Court also set the tax rate for 2017. The Commissioners Court reduced the General Fund tax rate by one cent to $.259029 per $100 valuation.
