The Williamson County Public Information Office was a recipient of the National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) Awards of Excellence for the Williamson County Expo Center Grand Opening Brochure. The NACIO Awards of Excellence recognizes and awards outstanding public relations and public information work being done by counties throughout the nation. The multi-page booklet received the Superior Award which indicated exceptional work among peers.

The Williamson County Exposition Center grand opening multiple-page booklet was created for the grand opening of the newly completed Williamson County Exposition Center held on November 12, 2016. The Center, located at 5350 Bill Pickett Trail in Taylor, Texas, is a renovation and enhancement of the original County Events Center in Taylor that was opened on the site in 2001. For information on events or facility rentals, go to www.wilcoexpo.com.

The creation of the grand opening brochure was a partnership between Williamson County, the Taylor Press and the Taylor Chamber of Commerce. The booklet was used as an insert in the Taylor Press, the Hutto News, and the Williamson County Sun to promote the grand opening events. Copies of the booklet also were used by the Expo Center as a brochure for the facility.

“I believe this project was recognized because it was a partnership between county government, the chamber, and a private enterprise. It demonstrates how much more can be accomplished when we work together to jointly promote our community and the good things that are happening here in Williamson County,” stated Connie Watson, Williamson County public affairs manager.
