The public is invited to the grand opening of the expansion of the Williamson County Regional Animal Center (WCRAS) on Thursday, March 14, 2019. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held for the new WCRAS Adoption Center in its parking lot located off of Wilco Way at 11 a.m. Attendees are invited to take part in a Kitten Shower by donating items for the shelter’s many cats and kittens! The shelter opens to the public at noon.

The annual meeting was held Feb. 19, 2019 at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church.

Commissioner Cook met with the Neenah Landscape Committee composed of Davis Spring residents and led the design of the landscaping, working with John Robinson, Austin City Forester.

Williamson County is undertaking the development of a Five Year Consolidated Plan (CP) for 2019-2023, as required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, to determine its priority needs for affordable housing and community development benefiting primarily low- and moderate- income residents. Part of the Consolidated Planning process involves outreach to residents, business owners, and community leaders for input on housing, economic development, and community development needs across the County. You are invited to participate in an online survey by March 31.

Ceremony was held Monday, Feb. 25, 2019

Officials from the County, City of Round Rock, Design Engineer LJA and contractors with Capital Excavation hold shovels of dirt to break ground on the north end parking lot of the Round Rock Public Safety Facility.The groundbreaking commemorated work to begin the extension of North Mays from Paloma Drive to Oakmont Drive. The project is anticipated to be completed in Spring 2020. The project is funded with county voter approved road bonds and by the City of Round Rock.

The current awarded budget is $10,775,835.75, with the city responsible for 24 percent of the construction costs currently at $2,586,200.50 but not to exceed $3,800,000.

Commissioner Cook lauds projects that improve mobility and traffic safety in Precinct 1 and around the County.
