WCRAS Thanks the Community, Offers Memorial Day Adoption Specials

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter wishes to thank the community for its tremendous response to its urgent pleas for medium-to-large adult dog adopters and fosters.

On Tuesday, May 17, there were 174 dogs in the shelter – 74 overcapacity. They sent out pleas for help and on Monday, May 23, there were 94 dogs in the shelter. “The outpouring of support from the people in this community was breathtaking. We are beyond grateful to everyone that helped in any way whether it was by adopting, fostering, rescuing, volunteering, donating or spreading the word, The community made the difference and helped us to continue our life-saving mission,” said Misty Valenta, WCRAS animal services director.

While 94 dogs on Monday is not overcapacity, the shelter is still full. Through the end of the month, WCRAS is offering Name Your Price adoptions for all medium-to-large adult dogs and adult cats for active duty and veteran members of our armed forces. Civilians can take advantage of $25 adoptions for those same pets when they schedule an appointment by emailing adoption@wilco.org. All adoptable pets may be previewed at wilcopets.org.

It is also the height of kitten season, which means the shelter needs kitten fosters. Those interested in joining the shelter’s amazing foster family can email eduran@wilco.org to get started.
