County Breaks Ground on Fifth County Park

Williamson County celebrated the start of construction of River Ranch County Park, the county’s fifth county park, with a groundbreaking ceremony on December 10, 2018. River Ranch County Park Is located in western Williamson County between Liberty Hill and Leander. The park is comprised of more than 1,000 acres of meadowlands, woodlands, hills and escarpments providing hill country vista’s between Leander and Liberty Hill.  The South Fork of the San Gabriel River meanders through the northeastern portion of the park.

The cats and dogs at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) have written their list to Santa, and each and every one of them listed "Home" or "Family" as what they wanted most of all. Make their wishes come true by adopting or fostering a pet during the holidays this year. For the month of December, all adult dogs and cats are only $12 to adopt, kittens and puppies are only $75 to adopt. County Office Closures

Williamson County offices will be closed for the Christmas holiday on December 24, 25, and 26, 2018, as well as on January 1, 2019 for the New Year’s holiday. The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, 1855 S.E. Inner Loop in Georgetown, will be open Christmas Eve from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed on Christmas Day, and open regular hours on December 26, from noon to 6 p.m. The shelter will be open New Year’s Eve 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be closed New Year’s Day except for lost dog or cat intake and reclaim. The Williamson County Landfill will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Taylor Tax Office Adopts New Hours

The Williamson County Tax Assessor/Collector's office in Taylor, 412 Vance Street, will be instituting new hours of operation effective today, October 29, 2018.  In order to better serve the public and reduce compensatory time, the Tax Assessor/Collector's Office will implement the following hours of operation:

Monday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This change adjusts the business hours of the Tax Office in Taylor so they are in line with the other three Tax Assessor/Collector offices which have used this operating schedule since February 2017.

Williamson County Issues Disaster Declaration

Williamson County Judge Dan A. Gattis issued a proclamation declaring a state of disaster for Williamson County on October 22, 2018, resulting from continued severe weather, flash flooding, and potable water outages that occurred on or about October 15, 2018. The state of disaster shall continue for not more than seven days unless continued or renewed by the Commissioners Court. A copy of the disaster declaration can be found here
