The Williamson County Purchasing Department is the recipient of the 25th Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award for 2020 from the National Procurement Institute, Inc. (NPI). This is the 25th year for this program that recognizes procurement organizations that embrace innovation, professionalism, productivity, leadership and e-Procurement.

“Williamson County has received this prestigious award for 21 consecutive years,” said Purchasing Agent Joy Simonton. “This award is difficult to receive. It demonstrates that our Purchasing Department excels in numerous categories including internal customer training, strong internet presence, a solid P-card purchasing program, and support on certification and education levels.”

“You have worked tirelessly through the past year through a global pandemic and blizzard. Every time we needed to make a decision to protect our community, you made sure we did it the correct way. Thank you for your sacrifice for the people in Williamson County,” said County Judge Bill Gravell.

For 2020, there were only 188 successful applicants, including 40 counties, 69 cities, 15 higher education agencies, 22 school districts, 34 special districts, 5 state agencies and 3 others.

The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement recognizes organizational excellence in public and non-profit procurement. The award criteria are designed to measure innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership attributes of the procurement function. The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement is sponsored by the National Procurement Institute (NPI), the California Association of Public Procurement Officials (CAPPO), the Canadian Public Procurement Council / Conseil canadien des marchés publics (CPPC), the Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials (FAPPO), the National Association of educational Procurement (NAEP), the National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO), NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement and the Texas Public Purchasing Association (TxPPA).
