Williamson County and Taylor Cut Ribbon on CR 101 Improvements

Williamson County and Taylor Cut Ribbon on CR 101 Improvements

Williamson County and the city of Taylor celebrated the completion of improvements to CR 101 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The project is 3.2 miles long and included reconstructing the road to create two 12’ lanes with left turn lanes at the intersections of CR 394/CR368 and Chandler Road and included two bridge structures.

“To say County Road 101 is an important road for East Williamson County would be an understatement,” said Precinct 4 County Commissioner Russ Boles. “ The amount of traffic and safety issues that this road addresses is important because as the county grows, this is going to be a major arterial. The fact that we’re taking care of and investing in it means a bright future for the east side of the county and for Taylor.”

The project was designed by Brown & Gay Engineering. The contractor was James Construction Group, and the project was completed in just under two years for a cost of $13,034,774. The project cost was funded with voter-approved 2019 Road Bond funds and the city of Taylor. The City of Taylor reimbursed the County ten percent of all CR 101 project costs or approximately $1.1 million.

“I can’t express the appreciation of the city of Taylor enough towards County Judge Bill Gravell, Commissioner Russ Boles and the rest of Williamson County Commissioners Court for their commitment to enhancing mobility throughout eastern Williamson County, particularly with respect to Taylor,” said Taylor Mayor Brandt Rydell. “With all the recent announcements over the last several months, we see that it’s absolutely essential that we improve mobility throughout eastern Williamson County and I’m just really happy that this project has come to fruition.”
