WCRAS To Operate Under New Emergency Plan

Animal shelters in areas already affected by the novel virus have felt a significant impact. Because of this, the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is operating under an emergency plan. Currently, the shelter remains open to the public for adoptions and fosters. However, that may change, at which time, we have made contingency plans for a curbside pick-up process.

WCRAS will change the hours open to the public on Friday, March 20, 2020. The public hours will be 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.

The shelter is currently limiting intake to emergency cases because of the potential impact on our ability to care for the animals at the shelter. This inability to care for animals can lead to euthanasia of healthy pets. If an animal needs to be rehomed, please refer to http://wilcopets.org for resources. You can find these on the services page.

If you found a stray, instead of dropping off the animal at the shelter, please follow the resources on http://wilcopets.org including scanning the animal for a microchip, caring for the animal in your home, and posting on social media.

The shelter is lowering its animal population by 50%. This means adopters and fosters are desperately needed to aid 60 dogs (primarily medium and big) and 30 cats. Sign up to be an emergency foster by emailing Erin at eduran@wilco.org.

WCRAS will still accept donations at the Services Building (entrance off the Inner Loop). Please leave all donations in front of the shelter. Please place linens in plastic bags. We currently need unopened bags of dog food and cat food, canned food, new toys in-store packaging, and crates. Monetary donations can be given by clicking the donate button on our website.

Together, the community can help the animal shelter through this desperate and life-threatening situation.
