County Breaks Ground on River Ranch County Park Interpretive Center

Williamson County broke ground December 11, 2019, on an interpretive center for River Ranch County Park. The center is being funded with a $750,000 grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife and voter approved park bonds for a cost of approximately $1.9 million. The interpretive center is slated to open in fall 2020.

Design Workshop is the architect, and Prime Construction Company Inc. is the contractor. The interpretive center will have a total of 4,836 square feet of space, 2,770 square feet will be air conditioned. It will contain exhibits, classrooms, and meeting space. Museum Services is creating the exhibits for the center.

River Ranch County Park is comprised of 1,354 acres of pristine Texas hill country located between Liberty Hill and Leander. River Ranch County Park has been under construction for the past year and is anticipated to open in summer 2020. It will give people an opportunity to hike, bike, camp, picnic and enjoy nature in one of the fastest growing counties in Texas.

“With the amazing growth that we are seeing in Williamson County, it is good to have a place not too far away where people can go and unwind in nature. We are grateful for our partners at Texas Parks and Wildlife for their grant which will help us to enhance the experience we offer park visitors with information about the historic, natural and cultural resources that can be found in the park,” said Precinct 2 Commissioner Cynthia Long.
