National Crime Victims' Rights Week Ceremony April 11

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is celebrated April 8 to 14, 2018. This year’s theme is Expand the Circle: Reach All Victims, emphasizes the importance of inclusion in victim services. Williamson County will hold the 2018 Crime Victims’ Rights Week ceremony on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, to recognize and honor extraordinary individuals who demonstrate outstanding service to victims of crime and victim services. The ceremony will start at 10 a.m. in the Historic 26th District Courtroom located on the second floor of the Historic County Courthouse, 710 Main Street, Georgetown, Texas, 78626. The event is free and open to the public.

Public Appeal Process Open on New FEMA Floodplain Updates

The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has issued a preliminary Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report, and where applicable, a Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM), reflecting proposed flood hazard determinations within Williamson County. The restudy includes the cities of Austin, Cedar Park, Coupland, Georgetown, Hutto, Leander, Round Rock and Taylor, as well as the unincorporated areas of Williamson County. The public is invited to review the information and appeal the proposed information over a 90-day period.

The Williamson County DWI/Drug Court was presented the 2018 “Spotlight on Success Award for Outstanding DWI Court Team” during the DWI Court Team Advanced Conference, recently held in Austin. The award honored the DWI/Drug Court Team led by the Honorable Laura Barker, presiding judge of Williamson County Court at Law #2.

Williamson County Burn Ban Lifted Feb. 6

County Judge Dan A. Gattis has lifted the burn ban for unincorporated areas of Williamson County today, Tuesday, February 6, 2018.  
Please be cautious with any outdoor burning activity.  Outdoor burning must be conducted under state regulations found in Texas Administrative Code Section 30 TAC 111.219.
Prior to conducting control burns, please take the following steps:
1.    Please contact your local fire department – Some fire departments may require a Burn Permit.
2.    Please contact Williamson County Communications – Please call and report your control burn to Williamson County Communications at (512) 864-8282.  Williamson County Communications should be able to inform you of any burning restrictions that Williamson County Communications has been made aware of and that may exist.
