Williamson County Breaks Ground on Samsung Highway Segment 2

Williamson County Precinct 4 Commissioner Russ Boles was joined by U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions, Representative Caroline Harris, Taylor Mayor Brandt Rydell, representatives from Samsung and others to break ground on Samsung Highway Segment 2 today.

This project will construct a four-lane road to reduce curves on CR 404 and increase safety. The completed roadway will connect FM 3349 to FM 973, just south of the Samsung plant, and will be completed in segments. Segment 1, already under construction, will connect FM 973 to CR 404, and will be completed in the fall of 2023. Segment 2 will connect CR 404 to FM 3349 and will be completed in summer 2024.

The design engineer is RPS, and the contractor is Capital Excavation. The construction cost for Segment 2 is approximately $5.13 million and is funded by the 2019 voter-approved Williamson County Road Bond Program.

“In Williamson County, we are always planning to make sure we have the right roads in the right place to handle our growth. I appreciate my fellow members of the Commissioners Court who have been supportive of projects in east Williamson County, but I also appreciate the people of Williamson County who have been supportive of these road projects. Not only do they bring health and safety to us, they bring many other opportunities to enhance our quality of life as well," said Commissioner Russ Boles.
