Williamson County Activates COVID-19 Vaccination Plan

Williamson County is activating its COVID-19 vaccination plan this week as it is scheduled to receive 6,000 doses of the COVID-19 Moderna vaccine through its partner Family Hospital Systems (FHS). The County’s vaccination plan targets providing the vaccine to residents who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine under the Texas Department of State Health Services’ Phase 1B.

"I am grateful to Governor Abbott and the State for providing our county with these vaccines to help protect our most vulnerable residents from the devastation of COVID-19. We will work with our partner Family Hospital Systems to get vaccines in arms as quickly as possible," said County Judge Bill Gravell.

The Commissioners Court approved an agreement with FHS during today’s Commissioners Court meeting to administer the COVID-19 per the County’s plan. Family Hospital Systems will begin vaccinating eligible Texans at the Sun City Ballroom, located at 2 Texas Drive in Georgetown, as soon as they receive the vaccine which is expected Wednesday. Vaccinations will be provided through the weekend while supplies last. An appointment will be required before receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. To register, please visit https://familyhospitalsystems.com/services/covid-19/.

In addition, FHS will be vaccinating people from their waitlist at a drive-thru site at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex, 10211 W Parmer Lane. You must be on the FHS waitlist in order to be contacted for an appointment at that site. Drive-up appointments will not be accepted. Registration for the FHS waitlist is available here.

Phase 1B includes people 65 years of age and older, and people 16 years of age and older with at least one chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from the virus that causes COVID-19, such as but not limited to:

·        Cancer

·        Chronic kidney disease

·        COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)

·        Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies

·        Solid organ transplantation

·        Obesity and severe obesity (body mass index of 30 kg/m2 or higher)

·        Pregnancy

·        Sickle cell disease

·        Type 2 diabetes mellitus

Please remember supplies of the COVID-19 vaccine remain limited. Residents who are not scheduled to receive the vaccine this week at the County’s vaccination site are encouraged to call their healthcare provider or consider visiting one of the state’s vaccination hubs that have been set up in various counties throughout the state.
