Virtual Public Meeting for RM 2243 (Hero Way)

Williamson County, in coordination with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), is hosting a virtual public meeting to share information about the RM 2243 (Hero Way) project and gather public feedback on the proposed improvements.

The proposed project is a controlled-access roadway from US 183 in Leander to the Southwest Bypass in Georgetown, which includes two mainlanes in each direction separated by a concrete barrier, with direct connections to 183A and Ronald Reagan Boulevard. The roadway will also include two three-lane frontage roads with access ramps on either side of the mainlanes. The first phase of construction is anticipated to include a single frontage road, which would serve two-way traffic until the other frontage road is built in a future phase. Limits of the first phase of construction will be dependent on funding.

Mobility and safety improvements for this project include adding lanes to increase capacity, realigning and straightening curves along the roadway and improving accommodations for pedestrian and cyclists. This project would alleviate congestion, provide safety improvements and help plan for the future transportation of the region. The RM 2243 (Hero Way) project is a part of the County’s Long-Range Transportation Plan and is being funded through the voter-approved 2019 Road Bond.

A pre-recorded presentation by project staff, which includes both audio and visual information on the project, is now available for viewing here. The recording was posted on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 9 a.m. and will be available until Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 5 p.m.
