Signal at FM 1660 and Chandler Road Active Starting Nov. 10

The newly installed traffic signal at the intersection of FM 1660 and Chandler Road in north Hutto will soon be activated. Drivers will first notice new striping on the road, Thursday, Nov. 3. The signal lights will flash for one more week before becoming active on Thursday, Nov. 10. Signs will be posted a week prior, alerting drivers to the change.

The signal was funded and installed by the Texas Department of Transportation. Austin Traffic Signal Construction Co., Inc. was the contractor.

“We have a high number of trucks and commercial vehicles that travel on both FM 1660 and on Chandler Road. This signal will greatly improve the safety of all vehicles moving through this intersection. I greatly appreciate how quickly the Texas Department of Transportation was able to address this need in our community,” said Precinct 4 Commissioner Russ Boles.

“Safety is our number one priority at TxDOT,” said TxDOT Area Engineer John Peters. “Prioritizing the installation of this signal improves safety and mobility for all who cross through this intersection.”
