Run Along Brushy Creek Regional Trail at Alan's Hope 5K
Alan’s Hope is hosting the Alan’s Hope Guitars for HOPE 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, September 16, at 8 a.m., at the Brushy Creek Lake Park, 3300 Brushy Creek Road, in Cedar Park. The event is held in support of National Suicide Prevention Week, September 10 to 16, 2017.

The 5K run/walk will feature music along the lakeview route and remembrance ribbons for people to wear in honor of those they have lost to suicide. Register online at www.AlansHope.eventbrite.com or the morning of the event starting at 7:15 a.m. for a donation of $15 to cover the cost of the event and t-shirts.

Additional funds raised will benefit Pick with Austin, a local non-profit that operates in memory of Texas teen guitarist Alan Curley. Its mission is to help educate and elevate a community awareness about the dangers of depression as it contributes to potential thoughts of suicide, particularly in young people, but also as associated with military and their families.  Pick with Austin provides donated guitars to kids and teens in hospitals, in youth groups and ministries and to those who have been identified in some way of being potentially “at risk” of depression.

Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the United States. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, please call the Bluebonnet Trails crisis hotline at 1-800-841-1255.
Event sponsors include Williamson County, Pick with Austin, the City of Cedar Park, Bluebonnet Trails Community Services, the Williamson County and Cities Health District and the Salvation Army - Williamson County. For more information, call 512-260-4280 or email t-smith@wilco.org.

Alan’s Hope is a sub-committee of the Williamson County Behavioral Health Task Force started in 2011. Alan’s Hope is dedicated to preventing suicides by promoting hope, awareness and support in Williamson County communities.
