Residents Able to Review County Financial Reports Online and at Libraries

The Williamson County Commissioners Court received a presentation on the Fiscal Year 2021 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and Independent Auditor’s Report from Weaver and Tidwell, L.L.P. as well as the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR), also known as the Citizen’s Report, on April 19.

“The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is an extremely detailed financial document that combines the efforts of the county’s Independent Auditing Team, an Audit Committee led by Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey, two citizens with financial backgrounds and the County Auditor’s Office,” said Williamson County Auditor Jerri Jones. “We are hopeful for our 31st consecutive award for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Governmental Finance Officers Association (GFOA) with this document. Likewise, we are hopeful for our 17th consecutive award from the GFOA for the PAFR, a ‘citizen friendly’ publication produced by the Auditor’s Office. These tools are an excellent overview of county finances, and I am happy to share them with the citizens of this great county.”

Current and past Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports and PAFR are available on the County Auditor’s website: https://wilco.mygovcenter.com/cms/cms?id=82

Copies of the 2021 PAFR will also be available for public view by the end of April at local libraries in Round Rock, Georgetown (both Georgetown Public Library and A. Frank Smith, Jr. Library), Taylor, Liberty Hill, Cedar Park, Bartlett, Hutto and Florence.

The goal of the Independent Auditor’s Report is to provide reasonable assurance that the financial statements of Williamson County for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2021, are free of material misstatement and in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles in the United States of America.

Some financial highlights of the reports include:
• The assets of Williamson County exceeded its liabilities at the close of the most recent fiscal year by $708.3 million.
• Restricted net position of $606.3 million are funds set aside for specific purposes such as: road and bridge, capital projects, debt service and records management.
• As of the close of fiscal year 2021, Williamson County’s governmental funds reported combined ending fund balances of $874.8 million.
•  The unassigned fund balance for the General Fund was $130.7 million, or 71% of total General Fund expenditures.
