"Leave No Trace for Williamson County Preserves" Training Offered Aug. 23

The Williamson County Conservation Foundation is offering a “Leave No Trace for Williamson County Preserves” training for people who want to access County preserve areas.  The class will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Southwest Williamson County Regional Park, 3005 CR 175, Leander, at the Boulder Pavilion near the Quarry Splash Pad.

“Leave No Trace” is a program by the Center for Outdoor Ethics. The class will cover the seven principles of Leave No Trace with emphasis on being mindful while hiking at Williamson County Preserves. Participants will obtain a Leave No Trace Williamson County Preserves permit at the end of the course. The permit will allow visitors access to hiking trails at Twin Springs and Beck Preserve. Everyone older than 12 needs their own pass; children under 12 must be accompanied by a pass-holding adult.

The class is free to attend, but space is limited and advance registration is required at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/leave-no-trace-williamson-county-conservation-foundation-registration-369217979917 . Participants must first complete an online awareness activity prior to participating in the in-person class.
