Jennifer Nelson Receives TCA President's Award, Elected to Board Position for the TCA

TCA President Bobby Lumpkin awarded Nelson the Presidential Gavel Award for her continued dedication to the corrections profession. In addition to the award, during the TCA Board Meeting held on Sunday, June 4, 2023, TCA President-Elect Rene Hinojosa nominated Ms. Nelson to a director position on the Texas Corrections Association Board of Directors.

“Even before joining the Texas Corrections Association, Ms. Nelson was successful in supporting the corrections profession. Jennifer continues to support and innovate community supervision practices utilized right here in Williamson County,” said Jameson Pennington, director of Williamson County CSCD and vice president of the Texas Corrections Association.

“Having Williamson County CSCD employees involved in professional organizations, such as TCA, provides increased opportunities for the CSCD to make an even greater impact on public safety in our Williamson County community,” said Nelson. “As one of the most successful CSCDs in the state, Williamson County CSCD provides client-centered supervision practices that continue to positively impact the Williamson County community. I’m honored that Mr. Lumpkin chose me for this prestigious award, and I’m thrilled to accept a position on the TCA Board. I’m confident that continuing to expand my knowledge as a community supervision professional will have a direct correlation on the supervision services provided to offenders in Williamson County,” Nelson said.

The Texas Corrections Association provides a forum for promoting quality correctional practices through professional growth, leadership, mentorship and education. TCA is organized to anticipate and respond to the needs of its members, clients and the public. TCA strives to build public awareness, recognition, knowledge and support for the corrections profession and the corrections field. First and foremost, TCA promotes ethical practices and a code of ethics for the benefit of the corrections professional and the general public.
