City of Austin Issues Boil Water Notice, Williamson County Opens Water Distribution Center

The City of Austin issued a citywide boil water notice which was lifted February 8, 2022.

A citywide boil water notice has been issued due to an internal process issue at the Ullrich Water Treatment Plant. Customers should boil tap water vigorously for at least two minutes prior to using it for drinking or cooking.

Williamson County will operate a water distribution point for city of Austin water customers in Williamson County at Kelly Reeves Athletic Stadium, 10211 W Parmer Ln, Austin, TX 78717, on Monday, February 7, and Tuesday, February 8, from noon to 8 p.m.  The limit is two cases per vehicle until supplies run out.

“We care about the residents that are in the city of Austin, and we have these resources available, so we want to take care of our residents,” said Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell.

Austin Water customers may not:

  • Use water for irrigation or testing of irrigation equipment
  • Wash vehicles, including at a commercial car wash
  • Wash pavement or other surfaces
  • Add water to a pool or spa
  • Conduct foundation watering
  • Operate an ornamental fountain or pond, other than aeration necessary to support aquatic life
