Williamson County was the 9 th fastest growing large-county in the nation in 2019 and that growth is expected to continue. The City of Taylor and the surrounding area have also seen a significant amount of growth in recent years. The number of people living within 15 miles of Taylor has increased 73% since 2000, and it is expected to double in the next 5 years. Additionally, the new RCR Taylor Logistics Park will bring in more motorists, including large trucks to the area. It is the County’s responsibility to plan for growth and ensure that residents are able to safely move around the region, which is why they are conducting a study to plan for the future of the road. The future improvements include an interim three-lane road with one lane in each direction and a center turn lane in order to provide better and safer access for vehicles traveling in the area. These improvements will be built as growth necessitates and as funding becomes available, in order to maintain a high-level of safety and mobility for County residents.
