Williamson County’s volunteer-run Vaccine Registration Technical Assistance (VRTA) centers have proven to be a positive tool to assist residents with the registration process for the COVID-19 vaccine. During the week of March 1, 2021, more than 300 people received support at a VRTA center.

Williamson County to Follow Governor Greg Abbott’s Executive Order GA-34

On Wednesday, March 10, Williamson County businesses will be allowed to operate at 100 percent capacity per Governor Greg Abbott’s Executive Order GA-34. Following Governor Abbott’s order,  Williamson County government buildings and facilities also will be open to the public at 100 percent capacity. There will be no additional requirements to enter buildings with the exception of the Justice Center. Governor Abbott’s order also lifted the mask mandate. The public will have the ability to choose if they wear a mask or not in county buildings with the exception of the Justice Center. Pursuant to the 36th Emergency Orders of the Texas Supreme Court, the following minimum health protocols are adopted for the Williamson County Justice Center effective March 10, 2021, until further notice.  

  • Temperature checks must be taken at the door, and an individual with a temperature above 99.6ºF will not be able to enter the building.
  • Masks are required for entry to, and should be worn at all times in, the Justice Center, including in courtrooms and public spaces (except when alone in a space); and
  • Social distancing is required while at the building.

The Williamson County Tax Assessor-Collector’s offices will be closed for staff training from March 9 to March 11, on a rotating schedule. While one office is closed, other office locations will be open during regular business hours.

Drive-thru vaccination sites are the most efficient way to vaccinate the greatest number of people in a day; however, Williamson County and its partners also are working on reaching smaller groups that fall in the state’s priority list of Phase 1a and 1b. In order to help the most vulnerable in the community receive the vaccine, this week the County began using special teams to vaccinate people who have a difficult time going to a drive-thru location. Residents in the state’s Phase 1a and 1b groups that want to receive the vaccine can register on the County’s centralized waitlist at  www.wilco.org/coronavirus

The office of Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 will be closed on Monday, March 1, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., for court personnel training.
