Williamson County Lifts Burn Ban

County Judge Bill Gravell has lifted the burn ban for unincorporated areas of Williamson County effective Friday, October 28, 2022, at 2 p.m. A copy of the signed order lifting the burn ban can be found here.

Janessa Stephens Named Public Safety Technology Director

The Williamson County Commissioners Court placed an emphasis on supporting first responders in the fiscal year 2022-2023 budget. One way they have done this is by creating a dedicated Public Safety Division of Technology Services. With the partnership of Williamson County Emergency Services and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, this division of Technology Services was created to prioritize and improve technology support for first responders. Janessa Stephens was selected to lead this new division as the public safety technology director.

TxDOT and WilCo Break Ground on FM 3349 at US 79 Improvements

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Williamson County were joined by Congressman Pete Sessions and Texas Transportation Commission Chairman J. Bruce Bugg, Jr. to celebrate the start of construction on the FM 3349 at US 79 intersection improvement project. The project includes widening the existing undivided two-lane FM 3349 and CR 101 roadways into a four-lane divided roadway, constructing two bridges over US 79 and the Union Pacific Railroad and constructing a local access road "jug handle" to provide signalized connectivity between US 79 and FM 3349/CR 101.

Commissioners Court Extends Order Declaring a Local State of Disaster

On Nov. 1, the Williamson County Commissioners Court extended an Order Declaring a Local State of Disaster for Williamson County due to the tornado that touched down in the Jarrell area, as well as high winds and severe thunderstorms that traveled through the county on Oct. 24. The Order extending the disaster declaration until Nov. 22 unless otherwise terminated is available here. Anyone suffering damage from the Oct. 24 storm can report their damage to the Texas Division of Emergency Management at damage.tdem.texas.gov.
