County Offices Closed on Friday, February 12, Due to Weather

Williamson County offices will be closed on Friday, February 12, 2021, due to inclement weather. Essential personnel will still report for duty. Residents are encouraged to use the County’s online services that are being offered in various departments. To access the latest information from each department, please visit www.wilco.org. The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) encourages people not to travel unless it is necessary. If you must drive, watch for slick road conditions on elevated surfaces, slow down and keep plenty of distance between you and other vehicles. In addition, please take care of people, pets, plants and pipes and protect them from the cold. Family Hospital Systems will be rescheduling vaccination appointments for Monday, February 15, at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex. Please check your emails for a message regarding these appointments. The County’s Vaccine Registration Technical Assistance (VRTA) center in the Sun City ballroom will not be open on Friday, February 12, or Monday, February 15. The County’s Call Center will be open Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with reduced staff.

Williamson County offices will close at noon today, February 11, 2021, due to inclement weather with deteriorating road conditions. The Office of Emergency Management encourages people not to travel unless it is necessary. Watch for slick road conditions on elevated surfaces. The Sun City Vaccine Registration Technical Assistance (VRTA) center will not be open on Friday, February 12, or Monday, February 15. Family Hospital Systems will reschedule vaccination appointments that were scheduled for Monday, February 15, at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex. Residents are urged to consider utilizing the online services that are being offered in various departments. To access the latest information from each department, please visit www.wilco.org. Williamson County parks are operating under restricted operations through Monday, February 15. For details, visit their web page. County Emergency Management officials are in close contact with our partners, including the school districts, the National Weather Service and Road and Bridge Division, regarding current conditions. Each entity is making decisions based on many factors with safety being the top consideration. COVID-19 vaccine providers in Williamson County are preparing to administer 9,700 first doses throughout the week, adding to the continued efforts of getting the vulnerable population in the community vaccinated. According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, the following providers will be vaccinating people who have signed up to receive their first shot.

The Williamson County Tax Assessor-Collector’s offices will be closed February 9 to February 11, 2021, on a rotating schedule for staff training. While one office is closed, other office locations will be open regular business hours. For information on questions about property taxes or motor vehicle transactions, visit the County Tax Assessor-Collector’s website at www.wilco.org/taxoffice.

Williamson County Saves More than $25 Million on Refunding Debt

The Williamson County Commissioners Court heard a report Tuesday, February 2, that the County saved more than $25 million when it recently refunded more than $193.43 million in debt service. Dan Wegmiller with Specialized Public Finance reported that by refunding existing debt, interest rates were lowered from between 3% to 5% to between 0.612% and 1.196% saving the county $25,266,879.
