Judge Stacey Mathews of the 277th District Court was appointed to serve on the newly established Judicial Commission on Mental Health. The commission, the first body jointly created by the Texas Supreme Court and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, will examine best practices in the administration of civil and criminal justice for persons with mental illness.  Texas’ two high courts have appointed 31 members, including Judge Mathews, to lead the newly established Judicial Commission on Mental Health.

The WilCo Wellness Alliance invites you and your friends and family to take part in our Community Health Survey. WilCo is participating in a collaborative planning process with nine other local jurisdictions to conduct a regional housing and economic opportunity study. The study is designed to better understand residents’ housing decisions and their experiences living, working or going to school in the region. Hot, dry, and windy. That is the prediction for this year’s wildfire season which starts in May and continues through the fall. These three conditions can have devastating effects as Central Texas residents discovered during 2011 when numerous wildfires started throughout the region including the Bastrop Complex Fire in Bastrop County, the Steiner Ranch Fire in Travis County, and the Moonglow Fire in Williamson County. Fire and emergency management officials in the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) 10-county region want to remind residents to be prepared for this wildfire season.

The Williamson County Comprehensive Parks Master Plan is in the process of being updated. In April, a series of four public townhall meetings was held to see the results of the citizen survey and share preliminary recommendations of the proposed plan.
