The Williamson County Commissioners Court passed a proclamation declaring September as National Preparedness Month. This is a reminder of the importance of being prepared ahead of a natural disaster or other emergency.  

“Hurricane Laura is a good example of how Mother Nature can strike anytime. Thanks to the quick response of the Office of Emergency Management and neighboring officials, we managed to house hundreds of people who were in the path of the category four hurricane; however, we never know when it may be us who face the brunt of the storm or any other life-threatening conditions. I am proud that we are getting ahead of the threat by educating our community and preparing our area before it is too late,” said Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell.   

Although hurricane season has been in full force since June 1, 2020, there are many other threats our community and state can face, such as wildfires, sudden flash floods, tornadoes, ice storms, as well as man-made emergencies. Stay informed of all emergencies in your local area by registering at www.warncentraltexas.org.
