The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved a resolution recognizing the week of July 17 through July 23, 2022, as Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision (PPPS) Week recognizing the essential responsibilities performed by pretrial, probation, parole, and community supervision professionals.
PPPS week is observed annually in July. The week serves to recognize the contributions and critical role of pretrial, probation and parole officers nationwide in promoting positive change in their respective communities.
“Williamson County has a reputation for being tough on crime, but we also are committed to reducing crime by reducing the recidivism rate. Our Pretrial Services and Community Supervision and Corrections departments have wonderful tools for helping people to get on the right path,” said County Judge Bill Gravell.
Williamson County is committed to reducing recidivism through the Williamson County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD) program, which serves the community by providing supervision services, in addition to supportive inpatient and outpatient treatment services for criminal offenders. Members of our community are encouraged to join together during this time to honor those who work in this field to make our communities a better place to live.
Currently, Williamson County CSCD has 80 staff members who supervise approximately 3,200 criminal justice-involved adults in Williamson County. Williamson County CSCD is proud to be one of the most successful CSCDs in the State of Texas, providing supervision services, as well as evidence-based rehabilitation services through the CSCDs own Outpatient Services program. The CSCD also operates Central Texas Treatment Center, an inpatient residential treatment facility. Central Texas Treatment Center continues to be ranked as the #1 residential treatment center of its kind in the state. The Williamson County Pretrial Services Department consists of 17 full-time and two part-time employees. The office is responsible for a variety of tasks essential to the criminal justice system in Williamson County. Staff provide post-release supervision for defendants released on bond and manage alcohol monitoring reporting for all criminal courts. In addition to this, staff from Pretrial Services provides administrative support to the Magistrate’s Office, manages indigent defense appointments and provides oversight of the cite and release and emergency protective order modification processes. Pretrial Services staff also conducts risk and financial screenings in order to assist the judiciary in making bail-related decisions.
