With summer travel in the forefront of many local families’ plans, Williamson County Emergency Medical Services will be working in conjunction with local partners to conduct two child safety seat inspections in May.  The inspection events are offered at no cost to participants and are available by appointment only.

The next safety check will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. this Friday, May 12, at The Learning Experience, located at 1821 Westinghouse Road, in Georgetown, when members of the Georgetown Fire Department and WilCo EMS will be available to answer questions about car seat safety, ensuring seats are installed properly, and will check that the child is secured properly.  Please call 512-943-1264 to schedule an appointment.

WilCo EMS will join Austin/Travis County EMS, Taylor ISD Family Services, and volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to conduct a safety seat and booster check event for area residents from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, May 15.  The inspections will take place in the parking lot of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2800 North Drive, Taylor, TX 76574.  Call 512-943-1624 for an appointment.

Funding for the safety seat project is provided in part by Capital Area Trauma Regional Advisory Council (CATRAC) and Safe Riders, a traffic safety program provided by Texas Department of State Health Services in cooperation with TxDOT.  Safety seat checks are planned on a regular basis throughout Williamson County.  To learn about future events, contact Kaaren Thoene at kthoene@wilco.org or visit www.wilco.org/ems and click on “Public Education.”
